Biography

Kahsai T. Gamber is a talented artist and a proud member of the Squaxin Tribe. His current body of work features graphite and digital pieces with organic lines and flashes of fantasy. He sees the world by looking at it from the inside out. He tries to get the observer to see his point of view.  He was raised by his grandmother on the picturesque Skokomish Indian Reservation, which is located along the scenic Hood Canal and the Skokomish River. From an early age, Kahsai had a deep appreciation for the beauty and cultural richness of his community, which inspired him to pursue his passion for art.

Kahsai earned his Associate degree in Art from South Puget Sound Community College, Olympia, Washington.  This helped him hone his skills and gave him the confidence to pursue his artistic dreams. He then moved to Durango, Colorado, to attend Fort Lewis College, where he currently lives and works.

In the summer of 2024, Kahsai graduated from Fort Lewis College with a Bachelor's Degree in Studio Art, which was a major milestone in his artistic journey. He studied under the guidance of Professor Amy Wendland, who helped him refine his artistic vision and develop his unique style. Kahsai also had the opportunity to assist in a Native American drum-making workshop, which was held in his community reservation in western Washington state. Working alongside a tribal elder, Kimberly Miller, Kahsai helped lead this event, which was limited to tribal community members and featured authentic materials.
